Day 32 in Passion Week: Listen to the Church
In all truth, I tell you, whoever keeps my word will never see death. -John 8:51
We are all vulnerable to the world’s temptations—greed, violence, hatred, and destruction—so we must help one another stay focused on the Son of Man. By remaining anchored in Jesus’ words, which never pass away, we find hope and strength.
To be disciples is to stay attentive to God’s voice, even in a world full of distractions. One essential way to keep listening is through the church, the body of Christ. We cannot stay united with Jesus apart from it.
The church’s liturgical life—Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost—draws us closer to him. At the center is the Eucharist, where we hear the Gospel and receive the grace that sustains us. Regular participation in the Eucharist is the surest way to remain attentive to Christ and his church.
Our Prayer:
O God, it is impossible to believe you without faith, since anyone who comes to you must believe that you exist and reward those who seek you. – After Heb. 11:6
