8베드로전서 4:1-11
미국에서 가장 존경받는 대통령 중 한 분인 조지 워싱턴(George Washington)은 매우 독실한 크리스천이었습니다. 조지 워싱턴은 주일 아침마다 하나님께 같은 기도를 드렸는데 다음은 그가 죽고 난 뒤에 발견된 기도문의 일부입니다.
「자비롭고 전능하신 주님.
제가 지금부터 주님께 드리는 예배를 받아주옵소서.
주님 앞에 겸손히 무릎을 꿇으니
모든 위험 가운데서 저를 지켜주시고 밝은 새날로 인도해 주소서.
주님께 영광을 올리고 예배를 드리며 평안을 누리게 해주심을 감사드립니다.
세상의 일에 너무 빠져 있지 않게 하시고
하나님이 저에게 주신 무거운 책무를 하나님의 능력으로 완수하게 하소서.
제 기도를 들어주시고,
주님의 음성을 분별할 수 있는 은총을 허락하여 주소서.
제 가족과 모든 친척, 친구들과 더불어 이 나라를 축복하여 주시고,
우리의 하나님이 되어주소서.
오늘부터 영원까지 우리를 인도하여 주소서.
우리를 위하여 다시 살아나신 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.」
주님께 기도할 때 하나님이 우리의 삶에 베풀어주신 은총을 잊지 않고 주님의 온전한 뜻대로 살아갈 수 있습니다. 아침마다, 주일마다, 주님의 은혜에 감사하며 주님을 위한 우리의 삶의 다짐을 기도로 올려드리십시오. 아멘!
주님, 매일 아침 주님의 도우심과 인도하심을 구하며 하루를 시작하게 하소서.

One of America’s most respected presidents, George Washington, was a very devout Christian. George Washington prayed the same prayer to God every Sunday morning, and the following is a portion of the prayer found after he died.
“Lord, merciful and almighty. Please accept the worship I give to you from now on. I humbly knelt before the Lord, protect me from all danger and lead me to a bright new day. Thank you for giving glory to the Lord, worshiping and enjoying peace. Don’t let me get too caught up in the world. Help me to fulfill the heavy duty that you have given me by your power. Hear my prayer, grant me the grace to discern Your voice. Bless this country with my family and all my relatives and friends, be our God. Guide us from today to eternity. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who has risen for us. Amen.”
When we pray to the Lord, we can live according to the Lord’s perfect will without forgetting the grace that God has given us in our lives. Every morning, every Sunday, thank the Lord for His grace and raise our resolution of life for Him in prayer. Amen!
