📜Bible verse
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. – Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)

For six years, I was the caregiver for my husband, George, who was suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. During that time, I faced many challenges. He is now in a skilled-nursing care facility, but many times during those years I felt like a prisoner in my own home and wanted to give up. Totally frustrated, I would ask myself, Why can’t he do these simple tasks? or Why is he getting so agitated over a television program? Then I had to tell myself, He cannot help himself; it is the disease.
Things were changing; his world was turning upside down. That had to be frightening for him. As my husband declined more and more each day, I prayed for God to give me the patience and strength to care for him with love and dignity. At times I did not know how I was going to make it, but God stepped in and gave me the strength, patience, and understanding I needed to view my husband as separate from the disease.
Whenever we think that we cannot go any further or do not know how we are going to make it through a tough situation, we can remember that God is always there to see us through it. As we pray and meditate on God’s word, we feel that presence more and more. The problem may not go away, but God will help us deal with it.
🙏TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, give us the strength and patience to lean on you in the midst of our problems. In Jesus Amen.
