지난 한 해 혹독한 고난의 광야를 통과하면서도 포기할 수 없었던 것은 복음에 대한 사명과 부르심이었습니다. 1년이 넘는 시간 동안 기도로 말씀으로 준비하며 “예수님만이 주인되시고 주님만을 자랑하는 사역을 감당해야 겠다”는 다짐과 결단을 하게 되었습니다.
주님의 귀하신 사역이 시대와 역사속에서 꺼지지 않은 성령의 불꽃이 되어 하나님 나라의 아름다운 발자취가 되기를 소원하면서 4가지를 마음에 담아 부탁드립니다.
첫째로, 우리의 머리와 가슴이 함께가는 신앙의 경주자가 되도록 노력해주시길 바랍니다.
지, 정, 의(Head, Heart, Hand) 즉 지적으로는 말씀 충만, 성령의 은사로 충만한 그리스도의 지체, 삶속에서 주님의 의를 실천하는 살아있는 신앙인이 되도록 말씀으로 자신을 조명하고 성령 안에서 우리 모두가 함께 빚어져 가도록 하나님의 은혜안에 거하도록 힘써야 할 것입니다.
둘째로, 목회자와 평신도가 함께 가는 목회가 되도록 협조해주시길 바랍니다.
목회자와 평신도가 하나님께서 주신 다른 기능과 소명에 따른 공동의 성직이라는 의식속에서 서로가 피차 존경하고 사랑하고 섬기는 방향으로 나아가도록 합시다.
셋째로, 성도와 성도가 함께 일하며(Work Together) 함께 걷는(Walk Together) 신앙생활이 되어야 할 것입니다. 주님이 베푸시는 은혜와 사랑으로 서로를 가슴에 품고 함께 나아갈 때 우리들은 서로에게 진정한 동역자요 벗이 될 것입니다.
넷째로, 하나님과 함께 가는 복음적인 삶이 되어야 할 것입니다.
흔히 목회의 성공을 이야기 할 때 ABC 즉 ‘Attendance(교인수), Building(건물), Cash(예산)을 이야기합니다. 그러나 하나님나라의 거룩한 비전에 사로잡혀 하나님의 의와 진리를 붙드는 교회가 될 때 사람 숫자나 예산이나 건물에 관계없이 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하는 반석위에 세워진 교회가 될 것입니다.
바라고 소원하기는 사도행전 9장 31절 말씀과 같이 말씀의 반석위에 굳건히 서서 가정과 교회, 지역사회가 평안가운데 든든히 서가며 주를 경외함과 성령의 위로로 날마다 구원받는 자의 수가 더해져가는 하나님의 꿈이 우리의 사역을 통해서 아름답게 성취되어지기를 간절히 소원합니다.
Over the past year, as I have walked through a harsh wilderness of trials, what I could not let go of was my calling and mission to the Gospel.
Through more than a year of preparation in prayer and the Word, I have come to a renewed conviction and commitment: to carry out a ministry in which Christ alone is Lord, and in which He alone is glorified.
With a deep desire that this precious ministry of the Lord may become an unquenchable flame of the Holy Spirit in our time and history—leaving a beautiful testimony of the Kingdom of God—I would like to share four exhortations with you.
First, let us strive to become runners in the race of faith in whom the head and the heart go together.
That is, in terms of intellect, emotion, and will (Head, Heart, and Hand): may we be filled with the Word, empowered by the gifts of the Holy Spirit as members of Christ’s body, and live out a vibrant faith that practices the righteousness of the Lord in our daily lives. Let us continually examine ourselves through the Word and be shaped together in the Spirit, abiding in the grace of God.
Second, let us work toward a ministry in which pastors and laity walk together.
With the understanding that both pastors and laypeople share in a common priesthood—each according to the distinct calling and function given by God—let us move forward in mutual respect, love, and service to one another.
Third, let our life of faith be one in which believers work together and walk together.
When we embrace one another with the grace and love that the Lord provides and move forward together, we will become true co-workers and companions in Christ.
Fourth, let us live a Gospel-centered life walking with God.
Often, the success of ministry is measured by what is called the “ABC”: Attendance, Building, and Cash. However, when a church is captured by the holy vision of the Kingdom of God and holds firmly to His righteousness and truth, it will be built upon the rock that the gates of Hades cannot overcome—regardless of numbers, finances, or buildings.
My earnest hope and prayer is that, as in Acts 9:31, we may stand firm upon the foundation of the Word, so that our families, church, and community may be strengthened and live in peace, and that through reverence for the Lord and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the number of those being saved may increase daily—fulfilling God’s dream beautifully through our ministry.
