Today is March 1st which is called Samil-chul in Korea.
In 1919, Koreans came together to openly resist their colonizers to declare their independence. Among one of the revolutionists was a young woman named, YU KWAN SUN (유관순). A student of Ewha, despite her young age of 16, bravely became an organizer for Korea’s independence. She fought her colonizers to her death and spoke words of freedom until her lasting moments. She passed in Seodaemun prison in 1920.
