Jesus’s Community

Jesus’ Community gathering in His Church                                Jan. 21, 2019

14 (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. Luke 9:14-15

……………………………………………………….

Why did Jesus have them sit down together in groups of about fifty each?  Jesus had them to be Community, the fellowship group, eating in Jesus’ communion table as Christian.  Christian means “belonging to Christ, slave of Christ, and following Christ,” because Jesus is our Master and owner. So, we cannot be alone; belongs to the body of Christ, the Church of Christ.  Luke said that believers were first called Christians in Antioch for their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ. (Act 11:26)

Koinonia” means community, communion, joint participation, sharing and intimacy in Greek, fellowship and caring about each other. It’s basic meaning of the Christian faith in relationship with Jesus, His Holy Spirit and bonding for unity in the life of the church.

A story in Talmud says that there is one who has two heads and one body.  Is it one person or two persons?  What is your answer?  How can you find out it’s one or two?  Every Sunday, we, all are different with different lives of members are sitting in the Church together and listening the word of Jesus, and giving our thanks to God.  The church is the community of Jesus, and we all belong to Jesus’ body.  If someone is sick and suffering, we all feel also sick and suffering because we are one body. We need to take care of one another and love one another because we are all children of One Father, God.  We are sharing our faith and blood of Jesus and new life of Jesus.  We are connecting with God and connecting with our brothers and sisters by one blood, the blood of Jesus.  Coming to the church means we are experiencing the community and the family we belong to in the kingdom of God on earth.  We are preparing and practicing ourselves to live in the Kingdom of God in heaven as the holy children of holy God.  We all together will be living with of our Father God in His Home eternally.

Paul said in Phil. 2:1-5, 1 “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others (and of Jesus).

5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”   (Insook Do)
