“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”[JOHN 5:24]
Eternal life is not a distant goal; it is a present possession. We tend to view “eternal life” as something that starts when we die, as if it were a reward for good behavior. But Jesus speaks in the present tense: “Has eternal life.” It is the very life that Jesus lived, made available to us the moment we trust Him.
To “hear His word” is not an intellectual exercise; it is an act of total moral surrender. The moment you truly hear Him, a spiritual “translocation” occurs—you have “crossed over.” The border between death and life is not a distance to be traveled over time, but a line to be stepped over in a heartbeat of faith.
If you are currently living in fear of the future or anxiety about your spiritual standing, you are failing to grasp the reality of this “crossing over.” The judgment has already been satisfied in the Cross. You are not “waiting” for life; you have already arrived at the life of God. Today, do not live as one who is still under the jurisdiction of death. Live as one who has been permanently relocated into the Kingdom of the Son.
