Day 30 in Passion Week: Listening to God
When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am He and that I do nothing of my own accord. What I say is what the Father has taught me; he who sent me is with me, and has not left me to myself, for I always do what pleases him. – John 8:28-29
Jesus’ entire ministry pointed beyond himself to the Father. He spoke and acted out of deep intimacy with God, never seeking his own glory but revealing the Father’s presence and purpose.
His words—whether comforting or challenging—were rooted in this union. Jesus’ suffering taught him perfect obedience, showing that sharing in the suffering of the poor opens us to God’s guidance and breaks down self-centeredness.
The saints, like St. Francis, Augustine, Teresa of Avila, and John Vianney, discovered that nothing is real apart from God; everything lives, moves, and breathes only through Him.
Our Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, this is the will of your Father that whoever sees you and believes in you should have eternal life, and that you should raise that person up on the last day. – After John 6:40
