빌립보서는 바울의 인사말로 이렇게 시작됩니다.
“그리스도 예수의 종 바울과 디모데는 그리스도 예수 안에서 빌립보에 사는 모든 성도와 또한 감독들과 집사들에게 편지하노니 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있을지어다”(빌 1:1-2)
이 말씀에서 우리의 눈을 의심케 만드는 단어가 나옵니다. 바로 은혜(카리스)와 평강(에이레네)이라는 단어입니다. 감옥 안에서 자유가 박탈된 사람이 감옥 밖에서 자유롭게 살아가는 성도들에게 은혜와 평강을 전하고 있기 때문입니다.
바울은 사람들이 볼 때 감옥안에 있었지만 정작 바울은 감옥 안에 있었던 것이 아니라 주 안에(En Xristos, In Christ) 있었다고 고백합니다. 그래서 빌립보서는 옥중서신이 아니라 주중서신입니다.
주님 안에서 살고 있는지, 주님 밖에서 살고 있는지 바로 알 수 있는 방법이 있습니다. 우리의 언어를 보면 됩니다.
‘죽겠다’는 단어가 주님 안으로 들어가면 ‘주께 있다’로 바뀝니다. ‘Impossible’이란 단어가 주님 안으로 들어가면 ‘I’m possible’로 읽힙니다. ‘내 힘들다’라는 말이 주님 안으로 들어가면 ‘다들 힘내’입니다. ‘역경’이라는 말이 주님 안으로 들어가면 ‘경력’이 됩니다.
우리가 주님안에 거하는 순간 주님도 우리 안에 거하십니다. 내가 주님 안에 거하는 동시에 주님이 내 안에 거하실 때 어떤 일이 일어납니까 ?
“너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이 너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라” (요15:7).
오늘도 주님 안에 거하시기 바랍니다. 그러면 주님이 우리 안에 거하실 것이고 능치 못할 일이 없을 것입니다. 구겨진 인생이 꽃처럼 활짝 피어날 것입니다. 샬롬!
🎼 나의 안에 거하라
The Book of Philippians begins with Paul’s greeting:
“Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons: Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:1-2)
In these verses, we encounter words that make us doubt our own eyes: grace (charis) and peace (eirene). This is because a man deprived of his freedom in prison is sharing grace and peace with the saints living freely outside of prison.
Paul confesses that although he was in prison, he was not in prison but in the Lord (en xristos, in Christ). Therefore, Philippians is not a prison letter but a midweek letter.
There is a way to tell if we are living in the Lord or not. Just look at our language.
The word “I’m going to die” changes to “I’m in the Lord” when we enter into the Lord. The word “Impossible” becomes “I’m possible” when it enters the Lord. The phrase “I’m having a hard time” becomes “Cheer up, everyone” when it enters the Lord. The word “adversity” becomes “experience” when it enters the Lord.
The moment we abide in the Lord, the Lord also abides in us. What happens when I abide in the Lord and the Lord abides in me?
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7).
May you abide in the Lord today as well. Then the Lord will abide in you, and nothing will be impossible. Your crumpled life will bloom like a flower. Shalom!
