You’ll welcome Him with open arms and waving branches today, but by the end of the week, you’ll be screaming for His crucifixion. This is the fickle and double mind of fallen humanity. We want cheap grace. We want the Kingdom without the King. We want the redemption on our own terms.
Jesus will have none of that. He will call us to account all week, but will we listen? Discipleship is costly. It requires submission and death to self. When the week is out, will we find that we’re ready to walk to Calvary? Will we find that we instead flee from His presence, or worse, with Peter and Judas, will we deny and betray? Grace is not cheap. It cost Jesus everything.
“No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown.” -William Penn
Go all the way this week. Walk every step. Go to Golgotha. Carry your cross. Go to the tomb with the women and Joseph. Seal Him in. It’s the only way to find life.
