Zedekiah(시드기야, 남유다 마지막왕) was established as king of Judah by the king of Babylon, but he betrayed the king of Babylon and relied on Egypt. So the Babylonian king encamped in Jerusalem with all the troops to attack Jerusalem and built siege ramps. Jerusalem was besieged by Babylon, and King Zedekiah became more anxious as he watched the siege ramps rising from day to day. God also hastened the destruction of Judah. Because of the famine, food ran out and the inhabitants of Jerusalem could no longer withstand it.
Eventually, the city of Jerusalem was captured. The temple of Jehovah was burned, and the relics in the temple were plundered. The marauders took everything from the temple made of gold, silver, and bronze. The two bronze pillars in front of the temple were destroyed and moved to Babylon. The temple items taken by the Babylonians were consecrated to be used by God. However, for the predators, the temple’s relics were not holy, but were lumps of gold, silver, and bronze that satisfied their physical greed. Judah, the people of God, could not keep the holiness of God because they did not live holy.
When the holy life of a believer falls apart, he cannot preserve the holiness and dignity of God. The fall of God’s people undermines the dignity of a holy God. Therefore, the holy life of the saints be-comes a light that illuminates the world of God’s holiness and dignity.
