“Dig a stream on dry ground”

📖 2 kings 3:13-20

During the time of King Ahab of Israel, Moab was a tributary to Israel   and offered 100,000 rams and lambs each time as tribute.  But when Ahab died, Moab took advantage of Israel’s chaotic situation and rebelled against Israel.

King Jehoram was surprised by Moab’s rebellion and felt urgency by sending an envoy to Jehoshaphat king of Judah to request military support and united with Edom which was Judah’s tributary.

They formed an allied army and went up against Moab. However, on the seventh day after the allies marched through the harsh wilderness of Edom, soldier and livestock ran out of water to drink. They turned to Elisha for help in the crisis. Although he wasn’t willing, Elisha made a way for Jehoshaphat. King of Judah. who was good in God’s sight.

There was no wind or rain, but they trusted God’s Word and began to dig a lot of streams in a valley.  As they obeyed the Word, water began to fill the streams they had dug.(2 kings 3:20)

God also gave them the gift of victory in the war against Moab. He gives orders like digging streams in dry land.  He is the One who not only gives us what we need when we show our love to living God through obedience in faith, but also makes us victorious in the face of even greater struggles and problems.

📖The next morning, about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was — water flowing from the direction of Edom! And the land was filled with water.(2 kings 왕하 3:20)

🎼 There is none like you
