Dear Chairs of Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committees and Pastors:
Grace and peace of our Risen Lord be with you and sustain you in these difficult and challenging times!
In the recent days, all of us have been shaken to the core by another kind of pandemic that has been with us for generations, the evil of racism highlighted in the tragic death of George Floyd. As we reflect and lament about racism and injustice that continue, let us seek ways to work together for healing, justice and transformation of the world in the name of Christ and His love. Let us continue to stand in the gap in prayer through all these challenges to seek God’s grace.
In his 5/8/20 Update, Bishop Bickerton had announced that June 11 (Thur) -14 (Sun), the originally scheduled date for Annual Conference, are to be set aside for a period of pastoral respite and renewal. The churches are asked to support their pastors taking these four days for rest, renewal and reflection as the Conference staff will cover the online worship service for Sunday 6/14 to be made available for every worship service across the conference to allow our pastors and their worship teams to have a break from their preparation on that Sunday.
As there is much being asked of all of us, please be sure to support our pastors for the weekend of 6/11-6/14 to allow for an intentional time of rest.
Please take care and stay safe.
Blessings and prayers,
Rev. Julia YH Yim
District Superintendent
