“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” [Matthew 11:28]
We often treat Christ’s invitation as a distant goal to be earned after we have resolved our problems and cleansed our own lives. Yet Jesus does not ask us to fix our burdens before approaching Him; He simply says, “Come to me.” True spiritual exhaustion comes not merely from heavy work, but from the crushing weight of trying to sustain our lives in our own strength. The rest Christ promises is not a momentary escape from reality or a passive relief from daily labor. It is the supernatural gift of His own unbroken fellowship, anchoring our hearts in the peace of the Father. When we cease our self-reliant striving and bring our exhaustion directly to Him, the heavy yoke of self-interest falls away, replaced by the quiet, unshakeable strength of His presence.
